"The Study of Christian Spirituality and Spiritual Theology: Evolving Methodologies"

This international conference focuses on innovations and current best practice in all aspects of research in the sister fields of Christian Spirituality Studies and Spiritual theology. Scholars from both fields will have the opportunity to share knowledge and exchange views on contemporary methods. Such an exchange will promote methodological debate with the goal of contributing to the academic development of methods and approaches to the research and study of Christian Spirituality and Spiritual Theology.
We are looking for papers (essays) in either English or Italian that address newer dimensions in methodology in the light of cultural shifts. For instance:
1. Presentation of methods, techniques and developments to either or both fields of study as well as on emerging theological, hermeneutical, phenomenological, social, appropriative and/or practical approaches.
2. Analysis and critiques of the paradigms that underpin research and critical reflection (issues in the formulation of research questions; collection and analysis of data).
3. The methodological importance and use of dialogue between spiritual theology and spirituality studies, and disciplines such as the humanities and the social, natural, formal and/or applied sciences.
4. Issues relating theoretical considerations and method of study to concrete expressions of the spiritual life (theology, liturgy, daily living, the arts, spiritual writing, Spiritual Formation Spiritual Direction and religious practices).
