Statement on the Clerical Abuse Scandal

The College Theology Society (CTS) stands in compassionate solidarity with the victims of clergy sexual abuse. As members of the community of faith, we acknowledge the pain of our brothers and sisters. We pray for their healing and peace, for the pursuit of justice, and for renewed wisdom and compassion from our Church's leaders. We move forward in trust, confident that God’s grace will heal those who suffer and strengthen us all in our faith journey, even in the face of evil.

In our role as educators, we recognize our responsibility to influence the moral development of those we teach in colleges, universities, and seminaries. We will continue our commitment to participate in the formation of our students, helping them to respond in faith to God’s call to holiness in unwavering rejection of the horrific sins of sexual abuse and of dishonesty toward the People of God.
