In Memoriam
Gerald T. "Jerry" Ruff, former editor at Anselm Academic, passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2021 at his home in La Crosse, Wisconsin. His friendly, smiling face was familiar to many of us when stopping by Anselm Academic's booth in the publishers' exhibit area during our annual convention for many years. His enthusiasm for mentoring new authors was radiant. He had a way of making his own gift for, and love of, writing contagious. His guidance for my edited volume, Green Discipleship: Catholic Theological Ethics and the Environment, to which many CTS members contributed chapters, was invaluable. I know that other authors, such as Mark Allman (Who Would Jesus Kill? War, Peace, and the Christian Tradition) and Mari Rapela Heidt (Moral Traditions: An Introduction to World Religious Ethics), similarly considered Jerry's sage counsel indispensable. He also often solicited our advice and listened to CTS members' ideas for new projects. Most significantly, for many of us--indeed, for the CTS--Jerry was a good friend. After his retirement in March of 2020, he could be found doing his own writing and posting lovely photographs of the Wisconsin countryside on Facebook. His first children's book, My Room Is a Zoo!, will be published in August. May God's love and peace be present to Jerry's family and friends. He will be greatly missed. - Tobias Winright, Vice President
