    Durham University’s Centre for Catholic Studies (CCS) in partnership with the Department of Catholic Studies at Duquesne University are pleased to announce a Call for Papers for the forthcoming conference on Lived Catholicism:

    Paradox and Prophecy: Why the Study of Lived Catholicism Matters

    15 & 16 November 2021

    Taking place ONLINE this second Lived Catholicism conference will consider: what are the paradoxes of Lived Catholicism and how can it be authentically prophetic? bringing together theologians, ethnographers, anthropologists, human geographers, psychologists and ethicists among others for interdisciplinary exchange and encounter.  

     

    Confirmed plenary speakers include:

    ·    Michele Dillon (author of Post-Secular Catholicism)

    ·    Valentina Napolitano (author of Migrant Hearts and the Atlantic Return: Transnationalism and the Roman Catholic Church)

    ·    Clare Watkins (author of Disclosing Church: An Ecclesiology Learned from Conversations in Practice)

    ·    Massimo Faggioli (author of Joe Biden and Catholicism in the United States)

    We are delighted that our speakers of 2020, Robert Orsi, Tricia Bruce, Alana Harris and Stephen Bullivant, will also be involved.

     

    CALL FOR PAPERS

     We welcome two kinds of presentations:

    • ·         15-minute papers, presented live in several streams, and
    • ·         5-minute poster presentations, pre-recorded on video.

    The deadline for proposals is 1 October 2021.
