    The Department of Religious Studies at Gonzaga University in Spokane WA, a Jesuit, Catholic, and humanistic institution, invites applications for a full-time tenure track assistant professor position in History of Christianities, to begin Fall 2022. The area of specialization is open and may include: Ancient/Early Christianity, Medieval Studies, and Early Modern Christianity. Scholars whose work engages global Christianities and whose methodology considers the experiences of people from marginalized and oppressed groups based on questions of culture, race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, and/or empire are particularly desired. The Religious Studies Department at Gonzaga University is committed to building an intellectually vibrant and culturally inclusive community for our students, faculty, and staff.

    • Ph.D. in Theology or Religious Studies or related field. 
    • Evidence of effective university-level teaching primarily at the undergraduate level.
    • Proficiency in relevant research languages.
    • Evidence of a robust agenda for scholarship.
    • Evidence of classroom strategies and/or pedagogies that advance equity and inclusion.
