JOB PURPOSE:
Collaborate with the Editor and Editorial Board in all aspects of editing and publishing, implementing online publication, posting and advertisement of The MAST Journal, a journal of Theology, Spirituality and Ministry of MAST (Mercy Association of Scripture and Theology www.mastrsm.org

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with editor and editorial board to determine issue theme.
- Develop pipeline of submissions and roster of contributors
- Recommend topics and writers to editor and editorial board
- Develop editorial processes, including but not limited to approvals on contributors, submissions, drafts, edits and final copy; workflow and deadlines.
- Participate as needed in editorial planning meetings with editorial board
- Create editorial calendar for print and online content
- Attend quarterly editorial planning meetings with editor and editorial board
- Collaborate with designer, translator and other colleagues, as needed
- Other duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Competencies and Experience
To perform the job successfully, an individual should have the following education, competencies, and experience:

- M.A. level in Catholic theology, biblical studies, spirituality, pastoral ministry, or related field.
- Previous editing experience, preferably of an academic periodical or journal.
- Strong writer and editor, with a proven record of accomplishment of delivering thoughtful, engaging content; previous editing experience, preferably of an academic periodical or journal.
- Culturally conversant or has worked in a multicultural or international context.
§ Understanding and appreciation of the traditions and culture associated with the Sisters of Mercy.
§ Spanish literacy desirable for either translating or working with translators to disseminate the Journal to Spanish-speaking readership.
§ Experience in small press publishing.
