Please join us at CTS Portland on Friday, May 29 at 2:00-3:30PM at the Comparative Theology Section for a discussion of the book Interreligious Friendship After Nostra Aetate (Palgrave, 2015 -- edited by James Fredericks and Tracy Sayuki Tiemeier).

    Panel discussants include:

John Dadosky, Regis College, University of Toronto

Reid Locklin, St. Michael's College, University of Toronto

    John Sheveland, Gonzaga University

    TRACY SAYUKI TIEMEIER

    (Loyola Marymount University)

the editor of the book, will also be at the session and will respond to the panel's comments and questions.

It promises to be a rich and timely conversation.  2015 is the 50th anniversary of the promulgation of Nostra Aetate.  Tiemeier's book presents an opportunity to discuss the implications for academic-ecclesial theology of the interreligious friendships made possible by Nostra Aetate.  We hope to see you there!  Please e-mail Christian Krokus (University of Scranton) at christian.krokus@scranton.edu with any questions.

I don't know the book yet but the topic is crucial in a number of ways, not least that NA is the portal to understanding the difference btw the pre-conciliar and post-conciliar church. The story of the difficulty in getting it through the opposition has been told many times, as well as the resulting schism.  A review of its journey over the past fifty years is most welcome and the editors and contributors have to be thanked for their efforts.
